To build a working customer acquisition system

The Client

Modi Store sells distinctive luxury lighting for customers who want more than a standard fitting.

The business had strong products and clear ambition to grow across the UK, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. But it had little sales history, limited market feedback and no dependable way of bringing new trade customers into the business.

The opportunity was there. Modi needed to understand who would buy, how to reach them and how to turn interest into profitable orders.

The Challenge

The business could not afford to market itself to everyone.

Luxury lighting has a specific buyer. The people most likely to buy were not simply searching for a cheaper fitting. They were looking for distinctive products, often for higher-value design, hospitality and trade projects.

Modi needed to identify the right audience, start conversations with them and build a repeatable process for moving qualified prospects into customers.

The aim was not a one-off campaign. It was a stronger commercial system that could support sales now and create longer-term demand.

What results did we achieve?

The first cold email campaign brought in 40 qualified trade customers in its first week.

Since then, the business has brought in more than 367 qualified trade customers.

That early response gave Modi something more valuable than a list of email opens. It showed who was interested, what part of the offer resonated and where the strongest opportunities were.

The business then used that insight to build out a broader growth system across email, print, LinkedIn outreach, sales follow-up and organic visibility.

Modi moved from starting with little market proof to having a growing pool of relevant trade relationships and a clearer route to higher-value orders.

Nothing leaves Market Jar unless it earns its place.

The Mechanism

We started by getting specific about the buyer.

Modi’s products are not for the average lighting shopper. So the first job was to define the trade audiences most likely to value the range, then create a direct route into conversations with them.

Cold email opened the door. But it was only the first part of the system.

We used the response data to build stronger follow-up, sales materials, LinkedIn outreach and a more structured approach to converting interest into trade customers. At the same time, organic work began building visibility for the retail side of the business, bringing in direct orders and supporting healthier margins.

The result is a growth system designed around how Modi actually wins customers, not a collection of disconnected marketing activity.
